Random recollections of World War II.

I was a boy at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution during World War 1. I suppose one of my most vivid recollections of that period was reading the morning paper on July 2 1916 and seeing the entire front page filled with the names of those who had been killed the day before in the Battle of the Somme. I was a member of the Inst Officers Training Corps, and we took our training very seriously, because many of us thought that we would very likely be called up in fact, I was 17 years of age when the war ended in 1918.
